Here's the starting point of writing your Class Agent letter. If you need writing help or more ideas, please call or email.
Dear (we can add person’s name),
Greetings class of ####!
I just saw my grandkids, my friends, went skydiving, been traveling, really busy, work, family, church, volunteering... life! (This is an update on you... always a great way to break the ice. And if this is your first class agent letter, here’s where you introduce yourself.)
Things are going on at WWC... (Mention a few noteworthy items. If one item relates especially to your class, add your thoughts to relate the story such as a "remember when?")
Events happening for your class (Invite your classmates to Homecoming, reunions, and other campus events.)
If any, opportunities for campus involvement (Reunion assistance, Alumni Board, etc.)
Warren Wilson College Fund... (Please encourage a gift. Remember, gifts from past alumni helped your class in many ways, so now is our chance to help current students. All gifts are important. Alumni participation is doubly important, not only for your support, but the percentage of participating alumni is one factor examined by other organizations that the College approaches for additional support.)
Memory/Observation/Insight (This can make a nice transition or closing)
Please contact me at .... (include your contact info: address and/or phone and/or email)
Sincerely,
Your Name
Class of ### Agent
P.S. (If you want to doubly emphasize something.)
Dear class of ####,
Start with your personal greeting
Greetings fellow classmates! Another academic year is starting at Warren Wilson College this fall.
Here’s a great place to share some personal news here or share a memory.
These are items that really need to go in.
Of course, fall also means Homecoming that will be October 4-7, 2007. This is a great weekend for you return and reconnect with your classmates and everything that made our time at Warren Wilson special. You should have already received a registration brochure in the mail. Register by mail or online at http://alumni.warren-wilson.edu/homecoming.shtml. And if you have any questions, call the Alumni Relations office toll-free at 1-866-WWC-ALUM (1-866-992-2586).
Add this for classes of 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, or 2002.
Homecoming also means it’s our reunion celebration. Let’s make it a special one this year by contacting classmates and inviting them to the celebration.
And please insert the appropriate sentence about your attendance at Homecoming.
I plan to attend Homecoming, so I hope to see you there too.
OR
I am unable to attend Homecoming this year, so I wish you a great time there if you can make it.
Another great place to be chatty here again. Share something about yourself, about a classmate, or a memory.
Now back to things that need to be included...
Remember, our time at Warren Wilson College was made possible by the support of alumni and friends. Today’s students need our support through the Warren Wilson College Fund (Annual Fund) that supports scholarships, the Farm, the Library, the Work Program, and so much more. Use the enclosed envelope or visit http://www.warren-wilson.edu and click on "Make a Gift Online"
And don’t forget to keep in touch with our alma mater. Make sure they have your email so you can receive the bi-weekly Alumni E-Newsletter. Send in an alumni note to share your good news in the Owl & Spade magazine. Log on to http://alumni.warren-wilson.edu, email alumni@warren-wilson.edu, or call toll-free 1-866-WWC ALUM.
Furnish your contact information, email, IM/Facebook/MySpace name, etc. so your classmates can contact you.
And contact me to stay in touch and catch up. Call me at ###-###-#### (and/or your email address).
Sincerely,
Your Name
Class of #### Agent
P.S. Don't forget to register for Homecoming 2007. If you do so by September 26, you'll receive a special gift at Homecoming when you check in. (And when you mail in your registration, why not tuck in an extra check for your Warren Wilson College Fund gift?)
