CONSTITUTION OF THE
WARREN WILSON COLLEGE
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

The Alumni Association Consititution

PREAMBLE:

To ensure that Warren Wilson College of Asheville, North Carolina may always have the support of a strong Alumni Association, the former students of Dorland-Bell School, Asheville Farm School, Mossop, Warren Wilson High School, Warren Wilson Junior College and Warren Wilson College establish themselves into such an organization according to this outlined constitution.

ARTICLE 1 - Name of the Organization

The name of the organization is Warren Wilson College Alumni Association.

ARTICLE 2 - Purpose

The purpose of the association is to foster among Alumni a spirit of fellowship and service; to interpret Warren Wilson College to the community in which they live; to promote among alumni a continuous active interest and support of their Alma Mater; and to provide an organization through which Warren Wilson College can continue to offer educational and cultural advantages to its Alumni and the community at large.

ARTICLE 3 - Membership and Association

Former students of the Dorland-Bell School, Mossop, Asheville Farm School, Warren Wilson High School, Warren Wilson Junior College, and Warren Wilson College are members of the Association.

There will be an annual meeting of the Association at Homecoming.

ARTICLE 10 - Meeting Procedure

Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised will be the guide in the conduct of all meetings.

BY- LAWS

The Board membership will reflect the make up of the Association and represent all former students of the institution as much as possible.

The President of the Association serves as ex-officio on the Warren Wilson College Board of Trustees.

The Board will meet at the time of the annual meeting, at a summer meeting, at a fall meeting after the annual meeting and at other times as necessary for conducting business.

The elections of officers (Executive Council) of the Association will take place at the time of the annual meeting. The election of Board members of the Association will take place at the time of the annual meeting.

Membership on committees need not be limited to Board members.

The job description for the Director of Alumni Relations will be attached to the official copy of the Constitution and By Laws.

The Executive Council has established the following Standing Committees in order to keep the Board of Directors informed on significant issues relevant to Association interests. Each committee will make recommendations for the consideration of the Board of Directors.

COMMITTEES

1. The Committee on Buildings and Grounds

This committee will review and monitor issues involving the physical plant of Warren Wilson College with special interest dedicated to the long range planning of campus facilities and land use.

2. The Committee on Education

This committee will review and monitor matters of policy associated with the academic, work and service programs.

3. The Committee on Student Affairs

This committee will focus on the status of student mentoring, alumni contacts, counseling and guidance towards career resources and job placement.

4. The Committee on College Relations

This committee will review, monitor and participate (where appropriate) in the long-range financial development and public relations of Warren Wilson College. This committee consists of three subcommittees as follows:

5. Alumni Board Development and Nominating Committee

This committee will be responsible for nominating candidates for vacancies on the Board and for nominating officers. It will maintain a list of potential new Alumni board members and participate in the orientation of newly selected members.
